With the uncertainty surrounding nightlife during the onset of the pandemic, DJs and Producers have been forced to rely on live streaming to connect with their fans. At Rimoto Stream we have taken the guesswork out of streaming while putting the interactivity and quality that fans expect back in the mix.
As the concept creator, UX Designer and Product Co-Owner I am responsible for producing everything from the look and feel of the app to bringing in clients. My team consists of a partner that does most of the backend engineering and coding, a front end designer that helps keep my designs consistent across all browsers, and an interactive designer that consults for us on workflows and efficiency.
During the pandemic the electronic music event scene was halted forcing DJs and producers to perform from their bedrooms and studios instead of the clubs and festivals they have been used to for decades.
Defined as a user who not only wants to watch a live stream, but also participate by controlling the on-screen visuals the DJ is streaming live. This is accomplished via an interactive “VJ” style mixer that allows the user to manipulate custom curated visuals overlaid on the DJ’s provided video stream.
Not every user wants to participate with the live stream. A more passive option is to view a professionally produced Live Video Stream available on FacebookLive, Twitch, or any platform the client chooses.
After a series of beta tests by several distinct personas we have iterated the design based on feedback from testing. We are currently demoing the platform to prospective clients as well as investors to scale up the content and functionality as needed. Customization of the product can also be easily made based on specific client needs.
